Initial Osteopathic Consultation and Treatment – 45 mins. – 1 hour.
During the first visit – a detailed case history will be taken. Questions will be asked about your current problem, your previous medical history and about your general health, diet and lifestyle. After which you will be asked to undress down to your underwear and a physical examination will be performed.
The Osteopath will then explain any findings from the physical examination, with the patient and discuss the diagnosis and the treatment plan, estimating the likely number of sessions needed to treat the condition. Treatment will then be offered in the form of soft tissue work, gentle rhythmic stretching of joints and muscles and manipulation. Occasionally ultrasound or and acupuncture is used to alleviate the symptoms.
If necessary you will be referred for further clinical tests, such as x-rays or MRI scans and if Osteopathy is not appropriate for you then you will be referred to your GP or another specialist such as an Orthopaedic surgeon for their opinion.
Subsequent Osteopathic Treatments – 30 minutes.
Home Visits – Available on evenings and weekends.
